Barbara is a Staff Photographer for The Los Angeles Times, and she has been recognized as one the winners of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for her 2-year work documenting the Victims of Gang Violence.

The prize for breaking news photography has been jointly awarded to Carol Guzy, Nikki Kahn and Ricky Carioti from The Washington Post.
