I am an architect with a passion for nature’s lessons and man’s interventions. My Images are born out of a deep emotional investment in their subject. Their content is never sacrificed for mere visual effects, nor is a polemic activism intended to prevail over an aesthetic balance.

Immaculate photographic work by a colleague I have never known, will never meet, but is close to my heart:
> He has a certain kind of patience – he waits for the atmospheric quality to come into the frame, where others might wait for it to leave,” he says. “It’s not just about the building, but about what surrounds it and moves through it – the architecture includes it.
Balthazar Korab [passed away at the age of 86](http://www.archdaily.com/321350/detroit-architectural-photographer-balthazar-korab-dies-at-86/), and is among the many architect/photographer whose work I have long admire and respect.
So long, Maestro.

Is it just me or this ‘Ones to Watch’ series is becoming less relevant these days?
BJP Editors really need to take some break and cool off, they’re getting out of context.

I’m sold at ‘[new look](http://qsapp.com/changelog.php)’. But if you’re averse to change:
> … in an effort to avoid an inter-appearance schism, the old bezel has been granted clemency. Simply go to Plugins, in Preferences, and install the Bezel Classic Interface.
The new caretakers are doing such a good job reviving QS.
New skin applied, site’s engine overhauled. Expect some rough edges during the break-in period.

Along with the redesign, I’ve consolidated the site’s main feed to one source, so in case your RSS Reader doesn’t refresh to the new location, clicking through the title will take you to [the new one](http://portfoliography.com/feed).

Speaking of image ownership, a freelance photojournalist [won a landmark case against his agency](http://www.bjp-online.com/british-journal-of-photography/news/2236638/agence-francepresse-infringed-on-photographers-copyright-in-landmark-twitter-case) for distributing a photo posted on his personal twitter feed. And today, group of photo agencies announced a joint legal force to call for a formal legal challenge to fight copyright reform:
> Associated Press, Getty Images, Reuters, British Pathé, Press Association, and the Federation of Commercial and Audiovisual Libraries are objecting to Clauses 66, 67 and 68 of the Enterprise and Regularoty Reform Bill, which will allow the government to make changes to copyright exceptions, reduce the length of term of copyright, and allow the licensing of Orphan Works.
I wonder whose interest the agencies are protecting: the publishers, the investors, or the photographers?
| Instagram’s Past is Facebook’s Future ★ | blog.instagram.com |
Effective today, Instagram’s short-lived Terms of Service update is being replaced by a [new one](http://instagram.com/about/legal/terms/updated/), which pretty much undo the controversial we-can-use-your-photo-to-sell-ads-but-we-are-not-giving-you-anything-back, and this:
> Our updated privacy policy helps Instagram function more easily as part of Facebook by being able to share info between the two groups. This means we can do things like fight spam more effectively, detect system and reliability problems more quickly, and build better features for everyone by understanding how Instagram is used.
There you go. As the new owner, Facebook has access to all Instagram’s user data, and as one of the world’s biggest closed advertising network — not far, maybe ahead in some area, from Google, Facebook is going to monetize the hack out of what you do and share on Instagram. If you don’t think that’s a good idea, it’s a good time for you to [dust-off your flickr page](http://www.flickr.com/tour).
